Monet's Cat Wakes up

Inspiration Piece: Monet's Sleeping Cat

Inspiration Artist: Monet

I used the box holding the supplies to house the assemblage. The pieces of wood were broken striped or sawed to create textured tree shapes and flower parts. I glued and wired pieces together. Flowers, turtles, star fish, the baby, sleeping cat, some angel parts were made with the Sculpey. I pulled the card board box apart and stripped some of the paper off to punch out stars and glue fragments to the canvas. I painted everything with acrylic paints. Wooden strips were woven with wire in a simple tabby weave to create a roof with rustic character. I used the instruction sheet to add wings to the angels and the city scape. Angel hair and cat whiskers were made with strings pulled from the canvas. I drew and painted flowers on the sides and back. I drew the cats on the cardboard box pieces and painted them.

I like to add writing to my work. There is a fragment of the story on the roof.
