Inspiration Piece: Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust

Inspiration Artist: Pablo Picasso

When I found out the theme for the 2013 mystery build is Re-Invent A Work of Art, Picasso's "Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust" came in mind immediately. It was challenging but fun working on this piece. I am very happy with how the piece turned out.

The nude was created with the wire -- as the frame, and with the chavant modeling clay, which was added to the wire frame to form this full figure beauty. The final touch of her luscious hair was made using the unraveled rope a few strings at a time. The bust was carved from the floral foam block with a coat of white paint to simulate the plaster look. Plastic pellets were used to shape the flowy looking leaves. Fruit bowl and fruits were made with Sculpey clay. The assorted hardwoods and the oak plywood were great for the bust pedestal, the fruit bowl table, the chase lounge, the floor, and the backdrop. Canvas cloth was perfect for the drape behind the lounging nude, and the small throw on her. Watching the tip videos gave me the idea of using the shredded newsprint, water, and glue pulp for making the pillow on the lounge, the finals on the curtain, and the green leaves pot.

This was really fun! I enjoyed making the piece very much.
