The Carnival -- It's a SCREAM!

Inspiration Piece: The Scream

Inspiration Artist: Edvard Munch

I started out with the ferris wheel. I constructed two circles out of wire. Then I wrapped the packing material paper shreds around this wire skeleton, adding a little bit of spit at times, to keep it from unravelling! I melted the clay down into a liquid form, and "painted" it over this, manipulating it with my hands to smooth it out. I carved both the ferris wheel chairs and the roller coaster out of clay, painting and adding wire accents to finish the look. The ferris wheel chairs were fastened to the ferris wheel with wire. The "scream" heads were made out of polymer clay, and cooked with wire already attached to them. The dyed material was draped and glued over the wire frame, and then more polymer was added to make the arms. The roller coaster was made out of the thin wood pieces, cut into various sizes, and secured together with wire. The roller coaster was finished off by gluing pieces of the cardboard box to it. The House of Mirrors was made by gluing and painting pieces of the cardboard box. The background canvas was painted.

This was amazingly hard and fun to do!
