Christine Cooper and self for Re-Invent a Work of Art (2013)
Inspiration Piece: The Gates
Inspiration Artist: Christo and Jeanne Claude
I built my project with a lot of love and patience (you have no idea). I used the thin flat wood as the base which represented Central Park. I then arranged the assorted hardwoods and plywood in the background to represent a cityscape. I cut the canvas cloth in square/rectangle shapes and painted them by using a plastic palette knife and cadium orange oil colour (both which had been left behind and abandoned by my daughter along with her college career). I cut from the steel wire six, nine inch strips - using a wire cutter (another unintended gift from the future graduate) and wrapped the now orange cloth around the wire using the bottled glue to seal a seam. I then sliced the floral foam block with a kitchen knife to make blocks to stand the drapes in. I made trees from the chavant modeling clay and shredded newsprint (wrapping the newsprint in the clay to attach it).
My art form is better than it presents itself with my phone and phone camera skills. I apologize. Could you please choose a picture ( I know they are not so good) as I cannot get back into the site to put the primary one in the right place. Thank you for your help with this matter.
