The Human Catastrophe

Inspiration Piece: The Human Condition

Inspiration Artist: Rene Magritte

The box itself was cut up and used to create the entire window space. The image of the frame on the box was used to create the frame in the picture. The round wooden cylinders were used to create the easel legs and the green foam was used to hold it together with glue. Clay was used to create the airplane and the tree. The slinky was cut up and used as branches for the tree and also as a frame for the airplane. The packaging paper which came in the mystery build box was painted green and then cut up for the leaves of the tree. The back of the box was painted to recreate the landscape in the Human Condition and the canvas pieces were painted to recreate the curtains in the painting. The box is propped up on wooden blocks which are covered with the cardboard painted to match the wall in the room in the Human Condition.
