The Persistence of Memory

by Bailey Miramelli and Tiffany Chu for Re-Invent a Work of Art (2013)

Inspiration Piece: The Persistence of Memory

Inspiration Artist: Salvador Dali

We constructed the abstract object in the water out of plastic pellets, and used the block of wood from the materials for the table (perfect size), but we painted it with a brown wash to keep the wooden texture.
The branch is made of sculpey and is hard enough to support books (our idea of a re-inventing this masterpiece). Books were made of canvas and cardboard to add movement we secured wire on them so they could be in the sky. We included small details like ants (made from sculpey) and painted black. The mountain is made of oil based clay and painted in different shades of brown.
