Water Lily Pond: Re-Invented

by Sophya Vidal for Re-Invent a Work of Art (2013)

Inspiration Piece: Le Bassin Aux Nympheas, Les Iris d'Eau

Inspiration Artist: Claude Monet

I made this in many small steps, all inspired by the paper shreds that came in the kit. There were 3 main parts: the bridge, the pond, and the tree.

I used the small flat balsa wood pieces for the mand base, the green foam for the plant bases and the box itself to house this diorama. I also painted the large flat wood piece for a sky background, like the painting has.

I loved working with the shredded paper- I dyed it by mixing hot water and acrylic paint then letting fistfuls of paper soak it up and dry overnight. this was great fun!

Materials and tools used:
Shredded paper
Flat Balsa wood
Green foam
Glue- including the one hot glue stick
Large flat piece of wood
Mystery box itself

sea sponge
Acrylic paints
Snips (for wire)
white spray paint for bridge

I will be including some WIP photos, but if you wish to see the whole collection you can find it here:
