Woman with a Room for a Face

by Sydney Sanders and Sydney Sanders, Madison Murphy for Re-Invent a Work of Art (2013)

Inspiration Piece: Mae West

Inspiration Artist: Salvador Dali

We used the canvas from the box, and painted it a variety of reds like in the actual art piece. For the eyes of the woman, we used one of the wooden slates from the box, and painted them to look like the photo. For the nose and lips, we used the sculpy clay given to us, then painted them to look like the photo after we had baked the pieces of clay. For the floor of the room, we cut ridges into the largest slab of wood we had received to create panels using a variety of cutting tools. We then painted the slab to look more like the woman's face. For the hair, we cut a piece of wire from the box and unraveled the rope to wrap around the wire and create the curtain of hair.

All items are held together with the glue given in the box, hot glue, and rubber cement.
