Queen for a Day

by Gail Peck for Build A Dream (2014)

I used wire mesh, aluminum wire, the aluminum rod and the modeling clay (and paint and glue) to create my diadem. I first bend the aluminum rod, cut the wire mesh as a frame and attached it to the rod, used wire to create more stability. I then rolled out the clay in a thin piece and cut sections to form the base of the diadem. I made seed "pearls" out of the clay and seed "beads" out of the wire. I used an adhesive to attach the "beads" and "pearls" to the diadem. I then painted the "pearls" with iridescent paint.

As a harried mother of three I have often wondered what it would be like to be queen for a day. To reign supreme! I would be a benevolent dictator, honestly.

I used my sweet daughter as my model...she wants to be queen for a day, too.
