Rebecca Tucker and Richard Smith for Somewhere in Time (2015)
We built our project using the materials given to us in our Mystery Build. We painted the circular wooden piece for our portal and used the bottom of the Mystery Build box itself to make our base, painting it a light gray. We used the sculpey clay to make the majority of our transpotational items, as well as one of the large cubical pieces of wood and some popsicle sticks glued together with super glue. We used the sander to make notches for our portal and to smooth some rough edges out and to make the popsicle sticks. We used the saw to make some pieces of our older plane, as well as our older car. The materials that were used were, sculpey clay, paint, popsicle sticks, one of the wooden blocks, the large, flat, wooden circle, part of our Mystery Build box, and some of the square, wooden dowels.
Our inspiration for the project was futuristic movies, many being based on time travel, such as Back to the Future. We conveyed the theme somewhere in time through our time portal and the evolution of the different types of transportation and the roads on which they traveled.
